My Town: Get financial freedom tips during 'Show Me The Money Day' Jan. 24

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- Grand Haven has many resources that can help residents better their financial situation.  Neighborhood Housing Services is planning the second annual Show Me the Money Day to help bring these resources together at the Loutit District Library for residents of Ottawa County.

Show Me the Money Day is Saturday, Jan. 24 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in program rooms A and B.  The event will include  free financial classes, table-top vendor presentations, information and appointment scheduling for free tax assistance services and prize drawings. Participants can learn how to begin to get out of debt, increase savings, about home ownership information and programs, and much more.

Community Garden Plots Available In Zeelend

Community Garden plots at Huizenga Park are currently available for City of Zeeland residents to rent for $35.00 per plot. Beginning March 1, 2013 a limited number of garden plots will also be available to non-city residents at a cost of $50.00 per garden plot. Event to Help Holland-Area Students Apply for Financial Aid - Feb 10

HOLLAND – College-bound Holland-area students and their families completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA can receive help with the form during “MI College Goal” on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Davenport University, 643 Waverly Rd.

Hosted by Davenport in cooperation with Hope College, the session is one of three dozen “MI College Goal” events taking place across the state. The session is free.

The program is intended for any student who will be attending a college or university in the fall of 2013 and is seeking need-based financial aid. The FAFSA is required of any student seeking need-based financial aid including grants, loans and many scholarships.

Students and families are encouraged to visit the host site nearest them regardless of the college or university that they plan to attend, and can stop in throughout the duration of the event.
