Please Water Your Street Trees

Please Water Your Street Trees

From: http://www.cityofholland.com

The extreme weather of the past few weeks, including high temperatures and lack of rain, has placed a great deal of stress on many elements of our community, including the street trees in front of residences and businesses. The City of Holland is requesting residents and property owners to assist in taking care of their street trees (located in the City right-of-way, typically between the street and sidewalk or immediately adjacent to the street in areas without a curb and/or sidewalk), during this drought-like period by watering them on a regular basis. When watering, please note that the depth of the water is extremely important, and watering for a longer period of time will allow the moisture to get down to the roots and protect against the heat. Using five to ten gallons of water, twice a week, is a good gauge for watering.
