Elzinga & Volkers Reports Strong Results, Announces New Hires, Outpaces Industry Growth | Real Estate
Elzinga & Volkers (E&V), a leading provider of construction management services, announced today strong growth for the first three quarters of 2014, driven by an increase in rising demand from a range of industries and building on the Company’s continued focus on delivering the highest quality construction management and consulting services to its customers.
Through the third quarter of 2014, Elzinga & Volkers has grown 36.9 percent compared to the same time period last year and new construction and renovation projects have grown 53.3 percent. Since the beginning of the year, E&V has experienced a 30 percent employee growth and has hired 38 people across many of their industry sectors – senior living, health care, manufacturing and food processing – that the Company serves.
“As we continue through the last quarter of 2014, the general business trends look to favor three of E&V’s driving industries in Michigan: manufacturing, food processing and healthcare,” said Mike Novakoski, president and CEO of Elzinga & Volkers. “Healthcare construction continues to look strong, especially in the form of renovation along with investments in new medical offices in West Michigan. Project backlog is substantial for construction companies that specialize in healthcare, and allows us to hire new talent and continue to grow.”
In addition to Elzinga & Volkers’ growth, the team is also working on a number of projects throughout West Michigan, including:
- Patient care renovations and cafeteria expansion at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s Hospital
- Expansion of PACE program in Muskegon and Holland for LifeCircles PACE
- Patient care renovations and expansions at Holland Hospital
- Assisted living facility at United Methodist Retirement Communities in Chelsea, Mich.
- State of the art car wash and convenience store in Holland, Mich.
Elzinga & Volkers also announced the following recent employee promotions within its operations:
- Dan Blamer – Senior Field Manager
- Doug Eddy – Senior Field Manager
- Todd Grzegorski – Senior Field Manager
- Scott Jesko – Senior Field Manager
- Clayton Martin – Senior Project Manager
- Nate Meeuwsen - Senior Field Manager
- Joe Shashaguay – Senior Field Manager
- Brian White – General Superintendent
“Successful employment for skilled trades industry-wide expanded by 2.1 percent last year and has continued throughout 2014 with an expected growth of 7.4 percent through 2020, numbers that we are significantly outpacing,” noted Novakoski. “As E&V grows, we are thrilled to promote and hire these individuals as their new positions reflect the firm’s expansion and highlight the premier talent we have on our team.”
In addition, Elzinga & Volkers recently announced that the company received The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) West Michigan Chapter’s Diamond level Safety Training and Evaluation Process, STEP award. This national award reinforced Elzinga & Volkers’ success at prioritizing the safety of their 130+ employees as winners must have an incidence rate at least 50 percent below the National Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) average in their particular NAICS code for at least three consecutive years.
Investing in employee safety and health has saved the company money and provided a platform for growth and new hires over the past three years. From 2011 to 2014, the company has experienced a 35% increase in backlog while also reducing workers compensation premiums over the same period of time.
