Harbor Humane Society seeks help

Press Release:

(West Olive, MI) ~ Harbor Humane Society is preparing for Spring Kitten Season and needs help. Due to the gestational period for unspayed cats, the majority of kittens are born in the late spring/early summer months.

During the months of April, May and June, Harbor Humane Society will receive an average of four to five litters a day, equaling up to 30 cats and kittens. Some litters will be accompanied by their mother cat, but many will not. The cost to care for these unwanted felines becomes staggering. On a regular basis, more than 1500 pounds of cat litter are used each month, during kitten season, the numbers of supplies needed often multiplies faster than the cats!

Harbor Humane Society depends solely on the community for donations of cat food and supplies. In preparation for kitten season, there is an urgent need for: kitten milk replacement (KMR), wet kitten food, flea foam, kitten bottles, and non clumping cat litter.

More than 400 homeless pets find their way to the shelter on a monthly basis. This mass quantity of pets provides a serious challenge for Harbor Humane Society.

Your tax deductible donation of kitten food, litter or KMR is greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at Harbor Humane Society located at 14345 Bagley Street, West Olive, MI 49460. For more information please log onto www.harborhumane.org or call 616-399-2119.
