Zeeland woman missing in Boston area
News

ZEELAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- It has been one week since Zeeland native Amber DeVoe went missing. One week without a phone call, text message or contact of any kind.

"I feel hopeless, I feel helpless. I'm stuck here in Michigan. I don't know what to do," said Amber's brother Jeremiah Velderman. "She's always been there when you need her. This is not like her at all. This is very unusual."

Since Amber's disappearance, Boston police and detectives have opened a missing persons case while her friends and family are pleading with the public across the country for help.

Amber's mother Rhonda Dirette tells WZZM 13 News that Amber moved to the Boston area about four months ago to work as a claims investigator. She says since Tuesday, June 21st no one in Amber's circle of friends, family or co-workers has heard anything from the 28-year-old.

"She has two investigative jobs and both of them say they haven't heard from her since Tuesday," said Dirette.

Since then, Amber's family has created the Facebook page Help Find Amber DeVoe, calling on the public for any information. Dirette is currently driving with her husband to Boston, to learn anything more about the disappearance of their daughter.

"This is not what she would normally do," Dirette said. "She is a people person. This is not something she would do... just disappear."

Amber is described at about 5-foot-8, 175-180 lbs with deep green eyes and blonde hair she usually wears as a mohawk. She drives a black Chrysler with Massachusetts license plates.

The family is asking anyone with information to contact the Boston Police Department at (617) 343-5630 or post information directly on the Help Find Amber DeVoe Facebook Page.
