News

UPDATE AT 3:20 P.M. (WZZM) -- A spokesman says a suspicious substance found in their mail room was actually infant formula that spilled from a torn packet.

"Upon inspection, we discovered a formula sample had been torn open in this morning's mail delivery," Mead Johnson Nutrition said in an email release on the incident.

Mead Johnson makes formula for children at its Zeeland facility.

The spilled formula led to a brief police and fire department response to the Main Street facility.

ZEELAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- Emergency crews are investigating an incident involving a suspicious package found at an Ottawa County factory.

The incident was reported around 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mead Johnson Nutrition facility on Main Street in Zeeland.

Ottawa County dispatchers say they do not have more information to release on the incident.

Last May, emergency crews evacuated the Mead Johnson facility due to a chlorine leak.  Seven people were treated in that incident.
