HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) - The Holland Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is buying a Super Bowl ad inviting visitors to West Michigan.
"It was an opportunity that was too good to pass up," says executive director Sally Laukitis.
The bureau isn't buying one of the multi-million dollar TV spots. It isn't spending that kind of money. Instead, officials are partnering with the convention and visitors bureau in Saginaw, Midland and Bay City to buy a full page print ad in the Super Bowl program.
"The cost was affordable because we were able to partner with someone else," says Laukitis.
The ad shows a Holland windmill, a lake shore sunset and a Great Lakes golfer.
"We've got great golf, we've got windmills, we've got sunsets," laughs Laukitis. "The whole nine yards."
The 67,000 spectators in Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium will each get a copy of the booklet, and millions more could see the ad on the Super Bowl program website.
"We hope to raise the awareness of Holland, Michigan as a vacation destination," explains Laukitis.
She says a page in the Super Bowl program cost less than $100,000 and potentially over 590 million people could see the ad on the Internet.
"It was a great marketing opportunity," she says.
