Temporary staffing on the rise | News

HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- As companies recover from the recession there is a much larger emphasis on hiring and doing so quickly. It's a rapid change from a few years ago, and part of the reason why temporary employment agencies are starting to say that business is booming.
To fill quickly and efficiently, several West Michigan companies are shrinking the idea of a Human Resources department, by hiring temporary workers at agencies like the Grand Rapids based Staffing INC.
"We've doubled our business in less than a week," said Staffing INC. Business Development Director Crystal Horne. "Holland is on fire."
Horne is one of the directors at staffing's new Holland branch, created in response to an increasing pool of potential clients in an area welcoming new growth.
"Since last November we are definitely seeing a huge increase of companies outsourcing all of their staffing needs," Horne said. "Back when the economy crashed, companies were lean. Now these projects are starting to secure and they're wanting to ramp up, but they're still reluctant."
If the economy takes a turn, Horne says a temp agency provides security for the employer and worker by establishing a trial period for both parties.
