ZEELAND, Mich. (WZZM)- A West Michigan company will begin looking for new workers this week to fill more than 1,100 new jobs.
Last week Gentex announced a $160-million expansion for its operations in Zeeland. The company has established market dominance in mirrors and glass that automatically dim to reduce glare. It also manufactures rear view camera displays for vehicle mirrors.
Since January, Gentex has hired 600 people. Another 745 new jobs will be created in the next three years, 1,100 in five years.
Bruce Los with Gentex Corp. says, "Right now, the intensity is very high on finding people and as always, we're looking for good folks. We think the timing is right, right now, for people that are thinking about upgrading their career and especially on the technical engineering side, we think we've got some great long term career positions to offer folks."
Thursday Gentex will hold a job fair in Holland to fill 300 of the jobs created by the expansion. Doors will open at 10 a.m. at the Double Tree Hotel on East 24th St. in Holland. The event will last until 4 p.m. Thursday.
