Parolee charged with Allegan garage assault

ALLEGAN, Mich. (WZZM) -- A parolee wanted for attacking a woman in her garage has been charged with several felonies stemming from the late September assault southeast of Holland.

Christopher Lee Allen, 29, was arrested by Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies while investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in the woman’s Manlius Township neighborhood.

While being held on unrelated charges, investigators were able to connect him with the Sept. 29 assault.

Allen was arraigned last week in Allegan District Court on sexual assault charges and for breaking and entering. He’ll be back in court Jan. 21 for a probable cause hearing.

The 25-year-old victim told police she was getting into her car about 6:20 a.m. to head to work when the suspect pulled her from her vehicle. She was able to fight off her assailant, who fled behind an outbuilding on the woman’s property on 136th Avenue near 56th Street.

The woman drove away and called 911. Investigators at the time said they believed the assailant may have parked a vehicle behind the outbuilding prior to the assault.

Hamilton Public Schools were put on lock-down while deputies searched the area.
