Holland police: Robbers target elderly man at ATM
News

HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police are investigating a reported strong-arm robbery at a Holland ATM.

An 80-year-old man told police he was using the ATM at the Macatawa Bank branch at 701 Maple (near 29th) shortly after 7 o'clock Sunday evening when two males took his money after finishing at the machine. They didn't imply or show any weapon. The victim said they also took his wallet and tried to take his watch, too, which broke in their fight.

Holland police tried tracking the suspects with a K9, but they didn't find anyone. A nearby security camera did get the accompanying photo of one of them, though.

Police described the suspects as Hispanic and in their late teens or early 20s. One wore a gray, hooded sweatshirt, while the other wore a black one.

Investigators said they believe the suspects may have been waiting near the ATM, so they want anyone who may have seen two people lingering near that ATM to contact them at 616-355-1150 or policetips@cityofholland.com. People can also submit anonymous tips by calling 1-877-887-4536, texting OCMTIP and your message to 274637, or visiting www.mosotips.com.
