Holland woman, 19, killed while crossing US 31

Authorities identified the 19-year-old victim as Moriah Wright, of Holland.

Update, 6:40 p.m.: Northbound U.S. 31 has reopened to traffic, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Update, 5:55p.m.: A 19-year-old female, of Holland, was killed after she was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by a 24-year-old Holland female at U.S. 31 and 8th Street, Sgt. Christie Wendt said.

An initial investigation found northbound traffic had a green light at 8th Street, and the pedestrian was in the crosswalk when she was struck. 

The accident remains under investigation. U.S. 31 at 8th to 16th streets remains closed at this time.

HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- Northbound U.S. 31 at 16th Street in Holland has been shut down after a car hit a pedestrian, according to police dispatch reports.

Police shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 31 just after 4:15 p.m. Saturday because of the accident. The extent of any injuries is unclear.
