MANLIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A 25-year-old woman was assaulted in her garage by an unknown assailant early Tuesday, police say.

The woman just had gotten in her car to go to work when a male suspect opened the door and pulled her from the vehicle, according to an Allegan County Sheriff's Department news release. She was able to fight the man off.

Police responded around 6:20 a.m. to the 5600 block of 136th Avenue.

A police K-9 unit searched the woman's property upon arrival but was unsuccessful. The suspect might have parked a vehicle behind an outbuilding prior to sneaking up on the woman and attacking her, causing minor injuries, police say.

Police aren't sure what the man wanted.

Nearby Hamilton Public Schools went on lock down as a precaution.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Allegan County Sheriff's Department at 26-673-0500.
