HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- Holland Rescue Mission spent Wednesday gearing up for its annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet, which started at 6 p.m. at the DeVos Fieldhouse at Hope College.

More than 1,400 community members were served a full Thanksgiving meal created by more than 500 volunteers.

Volunteer coordinator Martha Wing says setup started early in the morning, and more volunteers joined in to set up tables and chairs, prepare and serve the food, host tables of guests, and more.

The mission will be distributing care boxes, which will include things such as cleaning and hygiene items, to each household represented at the dinner.
