Holland Museum's Cappon House to host ice cream social

HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM)- The Holland Museum will be hosting its 4th annual Cappon House Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at no cost to visitors. The event offers residents and visitors to experience the Cappon House for free while enjoying games and ice cream. All games and activities will be Victorian themed in honor of the era in which the house was originally built and occupied.

Attendees will be able to participate in a walk through tour of the Cappon house with docents (guides) available to answer questions. Activities will range from marbles, rolling hoops, croquet, jacks, graces and more. Adults and kids alike will catch a glimpse at life in the 1800s.

The Cappon house was built in the early 1870's during the Victorian era for the city of Holland's first mayor ā€“ Isaac Cappon. It was designed by Jan R. Kleyn, a Dutch immigrant architect. The house was completely restored from 2000-2004 including reproduction of original wallpaper, floor coverings and silk upholstery material.

The Cappon House is located at 228 West 9th Street in Holland, Michigan. Visit hollandmuseum.org or call 616.796.3329 for more information.
