Project Charlie celebrates 25 years

Project Charlie celebrates 25 years

Project Charlie is a research-based substance abuse prevention program offered annually in local 3rd and 5th grade classrooms.  Trained volunteers teach and empower children with the attitudes, skills and knowledge essential for healthy, drug-free living.

In the last 25 years, we have been in 1,913 classrooms, taught 27, 097 lessons, and reached 43,083 children!  We are grateful for the 375 volunteers who over the years not only started this enduring program, but have kept it an important part of the education our children receive.

On May 25, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. at the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District, we will be celebrating the accomplishments of this program, the impact that it has made, and the people who have made the difference.  EVERYONE is invited!

Macatawa Water Festival is April 16th

From the City of Holland:

The Holland Area has been developed around the local watershed since its conception. We rely on the watershed for transportation, agriculture, industry and recreation. Despite how much you use this resource how much do you know about it?

On April 16th at Kollen Park from 9 A.M. to noon you will have a chance to learn all about the Macatawa watershed. Local organizations will be present to offer information on all aspects of how we interact with the watershed. Learn about what lives in the watershed, how humans are affecting it, how we use it in daily life and for the adventurous learn about recreational activities on the water.

Take a break from learning about the animals of the watershed to chat with the local fire department and get an up-close look at a fire truck.
