Reading Takes Center Stage in Hope Summer Program

Reading Takes Center Stage in Hope Summer Program

Reading will take center stage during the silver-anniversary summer of the Children’s After School Achievement (CASA) at Hope College.

Approximately 95 area elementary-age students will participate in CASA’s six-week summer session, which will feature the theme “Un Festival de Libros [A Festival of Books): CASA Celebrates 25 Years of Reading,” beginning on Monday, June 18.

“Good reading skills are essential to learning,” said Fonda Green, executive director of CASA.  “They lay the foundation for children to make their way through school and into the world of work and responsibility.  They also open up a realm of wonders by transporting us to any subject, location, or character within minutes.”

“Un Festival de Libros’ will help young CASA students to hone their reading skills through greater access to books and creative reading projects that will captivate their attention all summer,” she said.
