ZEELAND, Mich.- Pack your bags and join the fun as Zeeland's Pumpkinfest "Hits the Road" October 3 through 5 in downtown Zeeland.

Enjoy Zeeland's largest festival as it takes you on a tour of some of America's favorite road trip attractions. There will be events and activities for all ages, decorations, games and contests, special food and treats.

This is the 29th year for Pumpkinfest in Zeeland. The festival kicks off this Thursday, October 3 with the Pumpkin Bake Off at Royal Atrium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Kids Pedal Power Tractor Pull begins at 4 p.m.

Meijer partners with Priority Health to help as open enrollment for health insurance begins

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Meijer) – Meijer, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based supercenter chain, announced today that it is partnering with Priority Health, Michigan's leading health plan, to raise awareness and help customers obtain information regarding their options as open enrollment for health insurance begins under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). 

The Michigan-based entities have unveiled a Health Reform and You! website at http://www.meijer.com/aca and are also providing informational brochures for customers at 203 Meijer pharmacy locations in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.

'Thanks A Latte': Get a deal on coffee while helping mentorships

MUSKEGON, Mich.—  More than 100 children are waiting to be matched with a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore.

This month, you can help while getting a cup of Joe.   The Book Nook in Montague and Holland’s Lemonjello’s and Joe2Go  are all teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore to launch the “Thanks A Latte” fundraiser.  On October 1, LemonJello’s will donate 20 percent of its sales to the agency, as well as offer a specialty ceramic coffee mug to customers who donate $10 to the organization.   Joe2Go and The Book Nook are also offering mugs for a $10 donation and will be asking customers if they would like to add a $1 donation to their order.  All three locations are offering $1 refills on coffee to customers who bring in their specialty mugs.

Hope College to host College Night September 26

HOLLAND – Families and students considering higher education can connect with more than 70 colleges and universities during the Holland Area College Night, which will be hosted by Hope College on Thursday, September 26.

The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Richard and Helen DeVos Fieldhouse.  In addition to featuring representatives and information from the participating colleges and universities, the event will include two 30-minute information sessions regarding the financial aid process, starting at 6:45 p.m. and 7:25 p.m.

The DeVos Fieldhouse is located at 222 Fairbanks Ave., between Ninth and 11th streets.  More information about the event, including a listing of the colleges and universities attending, is available online at hollandareacollegenight.com.

ZEELAND, Mich.- Pumpkinfest is calling all photographers to submit their photos for "A New View" Photography Contest before the September 20 deadline.

New Pumpkin Passport kicks off Pumpkinfest 2013

ZEELAND, Mich. - This year’s Pumpkinfest is starting early with the addition of the Pumpkin Passport.

Nine local restaurants are featuring a custom pumpkin dish or drink from now until October 5 that people can try, and then be entered into a drawing for free gift cards. 

Participating Pumpkin Passport restaurants include: Frank’s, Public, Main St. Beanery, The 6 Eight, Vitale’s, The Farmhouse, City on a Hill Café, Zeeland Bakery, and Community Restaurant.  Dishes and drinks will include things like: soup, pastas, desserts and coffee drinks, all of which will have a pumpkin theme.
