Holland Celebrates National Arbor Day at Van Raalte Farm

Holland area homeschoolers, from LIFE Homeschool Group will help plant a tree to celebrate National Arbor Day on Friday, April 29 at Van Raalte Farm at 10am, 1076 E. 16th St. Holland, Michigan. The Holland Garden Club and the city of Holland’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department are organizing the tree planting celebration.  The city of Holland will also receive the 31st Annual Tree City USA Award.

Homeschoolers will take turns shoveling the soil to help plant the new tree. There will also be a Holland in Bloom children’s bird seed activity. Holland in Bloom is part of a nation wide beautification competition taking place this spring and summer in Holland.

Arbor Day is a nationally celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care. Trees not only provide beauty in our landscape, they improve the air we breathe, improve water quality, attract wildlife and conserve energy. Communities, parks, schools, community open spaces and neighborhoods all benefit from trees.
