Rising Texas Congressman to Headline GOP Dinner

A first generation American Congressman, U.S. Rep. Quico Canseco, R-San Antonio, will headline the Ottawa County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day dinner.  The dinner will be held July 16 at the Midtown Center in Holland.

Representative Canseco serves on the House Financial Services Committee with Second District U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland.  Canseco, the son of Mexican immigrants, is an attorney, banker, real estate developer, job creator, fiscal conservative and small business owner.

“Representative Canseco is the embodiment of the American dream. He is a successful business leader, family man and has become a rising political leader in Texas and Washington DC,” said Adam Tountas, Ottawa GOP Chair.

“We couldn’t be prouder to have him keynote this year’s dinner, and hope that everyone takes advantage of the opportunity to hear from an exciting new voice in Congress,” he added.

Canseco’s sprawling 23rd District includes much of the border Texas shares with Mexico. He’s been married 30 years to wife Gloria and they are the parents of three children.

Family dedication has been an important aspect of Canseco’s life. He was the oldest of eight children and took responsibility for looking after his brothers and sisters. Together the family built a company that developed retail centers from Texas to Pennsylvania and as well as in his native Mexico.

Tickets are available through the Ottawa County Republicans at 513 E. Eighth Street, Suite 15, Holland, or on-line at ottawa2012.eventbrite.com or by emailing faith@ottawagop.org.
