Zeeland students trying to set a world record for jumping jacks
ZEELAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- Hundreds of elementary school students in Zeeland are now part of an effort to set a world a record.
More than 600 students and teachers at Woodbridge Elementary did jumping jacks non-stop for one minute Tuesday.
The school hopes to join others internationally in an effort to set a world record of 20,000 people doing jumping jacks for one minute, over a 24 hour period.
It's also part of a program to reduce childhood obesity.
"It's nice because it promotes exercise and fitness for our young people as well," said Zeeland Public Schools Superintendent David Barry.
