Stabbing incident 478 E 16th Street – Suspect in Custody

On 10-7-2012 at 12:45 a.m., Holland Department of Public Safety Police officers were dispatched to a report of an individual who had been stabbed in the parking lot of the Sawbucks bar located at 478 E 16th St in Holland City.

Officers located the victim, a 32 year old Jenison woman, who had a laceration to her forearm. Witnesses on scene pointed out to responding units the suspect, who was walking away from the area. The incident was related to a disagreement earlier inside the bar.

Daniel Liceaga, a 42 year old Holland man, was taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned this afternoon in the Holland District court on one count of Felonious Assault. Liceaga’s bond was set at $25,000.00 cash/surety.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect had been removed from inside the bar by staff. Once in the parking lot, the suspect began an argument with the husband of the victim. The altercation began to escalate and the suspect pulled out and displayed a small knife. The victim attempted to assist her husband and during the physical confrontation was stabbed by the suspect.

The victim was treated and released at Zeeland Hospital. The suspect is being charged with one count of Felonious Assault and is being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond. His name is not being released pending arraignment.
