America’s Night Out against Crime is a way to show support to our local police, community businesses & our neighbors.

There is something for everyone on this special night out, experience. Families can enjoy a dunk tank, kid’s games, pie eating contest, a vintage car show, music, entertainment & more. All are invite to Movies in the Park to follow at 9:30pm.

The place to be at 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 2 is Kollen Park located at 240 Kollen Park Drive in Holland, Michigan.

The community is in for a real treat! The newest Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens comes to Holland Kollen Park on Tuesday.

Bring the family in your Star Wars costumes, lightsabers in hand, lawn chairs and snacks to enjoy this electrifying movie on Tuesday, August 2 at 9:30pm.

No alcoholic drinks are permitted, children must be with an adult and if inclement weather, the movie will take place at Park Theater.

Travel to 240 Kollen Park Drive for a family night in Holland.

Rain or shine the community is invited to dig up some gorgeous tulip bulbs to transplant into your own garden or yard.

Bring your bucket & pitchfork to any of the three different locations, Window on the Waterfront, the large tulip field at Windmill Island Gardens or Centennial Park on Saturday, June 4 beginning at 9:00am.

There is free admission from 9:00am – noon. Cost for the bulbs are $10 for a 5-gallon bucket, where guests can dig up bulbs to plant on their own property.

The State Park in Grand Haven comes to life with incredible kite performances this weekend. Don’t miss the fun!

For the 28th year, the world’s best kite flyers - individuals, pairs & teams will be performing continuously on Saturday, May 21 from 10am – 5pm & Sunday, May 22 from 11am – 5pm.

Kite enthusiast and their families are invited to experience different size kites with amazing capabilities controlled by professional kite handlers. There will also be an Open Flying Field to fly your own kite.

Free Fishing Weekend Coming Up

For the Valentine’s weekend, it’s a free fishing weekend for residents and out of state visitors.

All fishing license fees are waived for two days in Michigan, February 13 & 14 from 6:00am – 10:00pm. This allows fishing enthusiasts to enjoy the chance to catch all types of fish on both inland and Great Lakes’ waters during their respective open season. Just remember that all regulations still apply.

Trick or Treat on Main Street

Come rain or shine, families with children ages 13 & under are welcome to Main Street in downtown Zeeland on October 30.

Main Street comes alive on Friday, October 30 from 3pm-5pm with music for the holiday, yummy treats of donut holes from the Zeeland Bakery & apple cider provided by Family Fare, along with Dee Jay the clown with his balloon animal creations. Don’t forget to dress the kids up in their favorite spooky or sweet character costume for pictures by Marc Photography.

Miranda Kirsch of Zeeland receives Lake Trust Credit Union Scholarship

Miranda Kirsch of Zeeland, MI was the recent recipient of a $1000 Scholarship given by Lake Trust Credit Union of Holland, MI. Each year the Credit Union awards 10 Scholarships to students planning on attending a college in Michigan. This year they received 157 applications.

David Snodgrass, the Credit Union President and CEO, states that, “Throughout our experience, we’ve heard a lot of truly remarkable stories from students all across Michigan. We are inspired by each student’s commitment to their future and honored to be a part of their pathway to educational success.”

Lake Trust announces their scholarship program at the first of the year and accepts applications through the end of February. A team is assembled that reviews each and every application. Scholarship recipients are community-minded students who exemplify the Credit Union’s core values of Trust, Teamwork, Adaptability, Learning and Making a Difference.
