Downtown Holland Looks to Extend Their Helping Hands East

On November 9, Downtown Holland merchants are asking you to "shop for a cause." As the need continues to grow on the East Coast because of devastation from Hurricane Sandy, many of the local merchants will be donating 10% of that day's sales or promoting donation jars to give to the Red Cross.

Jamie Grasman and Maribeth Van Zalen, owners of jb and me, are spearheading the project "Our Hands Reaching East," after noticing the need and deciding that our small community could make an impact.  "Shop for a cause" is a project jb and me has offered clients before by allowing them to chose their charity of choice.  After contacting over 50 downtown retailers, the response was overwhelming.  Many owners agreed that by working together the results would be greater.

This Friday participating stores will be marked by red balloons. "Our hearts are breaking for the people affected by Hurricane Sandy," said Grasman, "we are so fortunate to have a community that is eager to do whatever they can to help." Come support "Our Hands Reaching East" by shopping at your local downtown merchants on Friday.
