My Town: Lake-to-Lake Food Drive kicks off with turkey donation

GRANDVILLE, Mich.—Lake Trust Credit Union will kick off its annual Lake-to-Lake Food Drive this Friday, Nov. 21 with a donation of 400 turkeys by Firekeepers Casino Hotel.

Now through the holiday season, community members are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food donations at any of the credit union’s 21 branches, including locations in Grandville, Holland and Grand Haven. The donations will go toward restocking pantry shelves at local food banks.  In the past two years, the holiday campaign has brought in more than 45,000 pounds of food.

In addition to Firekeepers Casino Hotel, Lake Trust is partnering with the Greater Lansing Food Bank, Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank, Food Gatherers, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan and Isabella Community Soup Kitchen and Two Men and a Truck.

“We’re always impressed and so grateful for the time and effort from our local partners, neighbors, members and communities to make a difference in these family’s lives,” said Keith Koppmeier, Lake Trust Credit Union director of corporate responsibility.  “Our Food Drive is very near and dear to our hearts. To be able to pull together like this, to reach out to so many is incredible, and it takes all of us.”
