HOLLAND, Mich.—The City of Holland is holding a friendly competition for amateur green thumbs to help retain its America In Bloom title.

The deadline to enter the Blizzards to Blooms garden contest is July 15. Home and business owners within the city limits are encouraged to enter the contest or nominate a neighbor’s green space.  Entrants should submit “before” (winter) photographs and up to five “after” (summer) photographs of their garden.  The winner will get an original drawing of their garden by local artist Carolyn Stich, as well as gift certificates to either Jonker’s Gardens or JW Greenhouse.  Second and third place winners will also receive gift certificates. 

The winners will be recognized when the judges of America In Bloom visit Holland, July 29-30. Contest entry forms for Blizzards to Blooms are available online here or at the following locations:
