Elzinga & Volkers Offers Free Seminar on Designing and Funding Expanding Ministries

May 2: Caledonia – May 9: Grand Rapids

HOLLAND, MICH., – In the last few years, faith based facilities and churches throughout West Michigan have been getting a makeover, a sign that our communities are strong and willing to invest in the future. Holland-based construction management firm, Elzinga & Volkers, has noticed a trend where churches and faith-based facilities are investing and expanding in new and innovative ways, deviating away from the typical church facility to create a more modern, urban worship setting. Elzinga & Volkers will hold a free informational session to help educate local churches looking to design and fund their expanding ministries.

“Elzinga & Volkers has been active in many worship projects over the years,” said Mike Novakoski, president and CEO of Elzinga & Volkers Construction Professionals. “We hope to share our knowledge and alleviate any concerns that congregations may have when taking this leap of faith.”

The “Designing and Funding Your Expanding Ministry” free informational session will be held on two different dates:

  • Thursday, May 2 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Location: Cornerstone Church at 1675 84th Street SE, Caledonia, Mich, 49316

  • Thursday, May 9 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Location: Hyatt Place Grand Rapids – South Hotel at 2150 Metro Lane, Wyoming, Mich, 49519

Topics include:

  1. Objectives & Elements of a Successful Capital Stewardship Campaign Plan
  2. Church Architecture & Digital Culture
  3. Engaging 100% of the Faith Community through Prayer, Time, Treasure & Talents

“With the growing rate of faith-based expansions and renovations in West Michigan, it is important for local churches to understand the benefits of making these investments,” said Steve Fridsma, Elevate Studio, principal architect. “This seminar will provide the process for planning and executing a successful project with the ultimate goal of strengthening a church’s mission and reaching new members.”

Whether it is renovations and repurposing existing spaces or new construction, faith-based communities are developing meaningful spaces to worship, provide safe places for youth and the community to socialize and build relationships with one another.
