New banquet facility opening downtown

Chuck Reid, co-owner of CityFlatsHotel, is pleased to announce the opening of a banquet facility adjacent to the downtown Grand Rapids, Mich. location.

Downtown Grand Rapids’ newest banquet facility, to be named The Ballroom @ CityFlatsHotel, will be located next door to the hotel on the corner of Monroe Center and Ionia Street, on the second floor of the former Michigan National Bank building.  The facility will be available to host weddings, special events and corporate meetings as of September 2012.

The prominent, mixed-use historic building, which was built in 1929, was originally home to an old bank branch; the portion that is to be used for The Ballroom has been vacant since 2003.  In keeping with the hotel’s stance on reusability and ecologically friendly design, the intent of the new space is not to change but to enhance its historic beauty.  Therefore, aside from minor updates, The Ballroom @ CityFlatsHotel will boast the building’s original grand marble staircase, vaulted ceilings, ornate woodwork and magnificent columns throughout.  In addition to minimal updates, a new full service kitchen will be added, allowing guests to experience more of the fine dining that CityFlatsHotel has to offer.

Roger Hinman, owner of The Hinman Company and 77 Monroe Center, is pleased to be playing a role with CityFlatsHotel which will contribute to the growth of downtown Grand Rapids.
