Upgrades planned for Northeast Park

KENTWOOD, Mich.—A Kentwood park is about to get some upgrades.

On Tuesday, October 1, Kentwood’s Committee of the Whole is expected to review a possible contract with Riverworks Construction Incorporated to build a boardwalk at Northeast Park.  The deal would be for up to approximately $246,000 to replace and install a new pathway, as well as replace two viewing decks, including one on Scenic Lake.

The project will be paid for by a $125,400 state grant, with the remaining cost covered by the city’s parks millage.  Riverworks Construction of Holland is estimating the project will actually cost about $231,000.

If the contract is approved by the Committee of the Whole, it will be discussed at the City Commission meeting at 7 p.m. that same night.  If commissioners approve the deal, it will go to the mayor’s desk for approval.
