My Town: Tulip Time returns to Holland May 3-10

HOLLAND, Mich.—A Dutch tradition will take over Holland’s streets starting this weekend.

Tulip Time 2014 is May 3-10.  Thousands of people from across the nation are expected to descend on Holland to check out the 6 million tulips on display.  This year’s festival also includes traditional Dutch dancing, parades, the Tulip Time Run, an art and craft fair, quilt show, fireworks, live performances and art classes.  For the entire schedule, visit the Tulip Time festival website here.

Macatawa Area Express will be offering a 15 minute shuttle for Tulip Time visitors to help alleviate parking and traffic issues.  Visitors can park their vehicles at any designated Park-N-Ride lot in Holland and board a fixed route bus or QuikTrip shuttle to downtown Holland.  Fixed route one-way fares are $1 for adults and $0.50 for children under 18.  Seniors and ADA eligible passengers ride free.  QuickTrip shuttles are $1 one way for all passengers.  Wristbands for unlimited festival shuttle rides can be purchased for $5 at catchamax.org or by calling (616) 355-1010.

The MAX will be detouring some of its bus routes and closing some bus stops during the festival.  Disruptions will happen downtown on May 3, May 7, May 8 and May 20.  People planning to use the bus service should check the MAX website ahead of time for route revisions and bus stop closures or call customer service at (616) 355-1010.
