Ministry merge affords a better opportunity to reach at risk youth in Holland

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HOLLAND, Mich. (September 1, 2010) – Holland Rescue Mission is joining forces with Urban Youth Ministry to form a single community outreach called: Rock Urban Youth Ministry.

“After evaluating both ministry operations, it was apparent to our leadership that combining efforts would afford us a greater opportunity with more resources to reach a larger number of youth in the Holland area,” commented Ken Filippini, President of the Board of Directors at Urban Youth Ministry.

Too many young people today are not given the guidance and enrichment that they deserve. They come from troubled homes and families - making it hard to succeed in life. Without a support system encouraging and challenging them, youth float through life without any ambition or skills.

By combining these two organizations, at-risk youth will be provided a safe second home where they are loved and can grow through developing relationships with caring adults. They will be equipped and empowered to become life-long learners, productive workers, and self-sufficient citizens.

“We are thrilled about this partnership and believe it’s the next step for both organizations to more effectively meet our goal of reaching teens in our area.” said Darryl Bartlett, Executive Director at Holland Rescue Mission.

Former director of Urban Youth Ministries, Teddy Davis, will continue his pastoral leadership under the direction of Holland Rescue Mission.
