The Holland Historical Trust is proud to announce a fundraiser concert with actor/musician/playwright Jeff Daniels, on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. to showcase the restored Holland Armory.

Daniels’ successful and varied career began in 1981 with director Miloš Forman's Ragtime.  Other blockbusters he has been involved with include Terms of Endearment, Speed, Dumb and Dumber, The Hours and The Squid and the Whale.  Daniels’ numerous award nominations include nods from the Golden Globes, the Independent Spirit Award, and the London Film Critics Circle Award.

In 1991, he founded the acclaimed Purple Rose Theatre Company, a non-profit stage company in his childhood and current home of Chelsea, Michigan.  He is currently Executive Director there, and has written 11 plays for them.  One of Daniel’s most notable playwriting successes, Escanaba in Da Moonlight, was later made into a film.

Daniels has also written music for over thirty years.  His first foray into performing it in public came at the urging of his sound supervisor from Escanaba in Da Moonlight who observed him typing up his songs during a mixing session.  It was suggested that Daniels perform the songs for a Purple Rose fundraiser.  While initially skeptical, Daniels followed through with the idea which culminated with three years of sold-out shows.  Daniels now performs his music regularly, with two CD’s of material (Live and Unplugged and Grandfather’s Hat) to his name.

Tickets for Jeff Daniels’ performance at the Holland Armory are priced at $35 for general seating and $100 for a VIP ticket which includes a seat in the first two to four rows along with a meet-and-greet with Jeff Daniels following the performance.  Tickets are available for purchase here, or by phone at (616) 796-3325.
