HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- An old junior high school in downtown Holland will reopen as the city's newest apartment building.

The Dwelling Place took over the former E.E. Fell Junior High School.

The organization broke ground Thursday on a nearly $6 million renovation project for the building.

Once finished it will be called Midtown Village and provide apartments for people over the age of 55.

The building has been empty for the past five years. The Dwelling Place says this project will help renew the community.

"Having apartments in the building, with all the activity associated with those apartments and the people living here, will breathe new life into this block and into the neighborhood where the project is located," says Dennis Sturtevant of the Dwelling Place.

The apartments will cost from $580 to $605 a month for people who qualify.
