Call center to bring hundreds of jobs to Holland

HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM)- A new customer call center is bringing hundreds of jobs to Holland.

NOVO 1 opened its new 37,000 square foot facility last month.  It is located near Hayworth's headquarters on South Waverly Boulevard.

The Texas based company currently employes about 15 workers and plans to hire an additional 400 over the next three years.

The company has poured more than $2-million dollars into the facility for preperation and rennovations. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation and entities from the federal and local levels are matching that amount with more tham $2-million in tax incentives.

"The tax incentives are important, that may be a way to break even," said NOVO 1 CEO Mary Murcott. "But they weren't the main reason we came."

Murcott says the title Holland earned in February as one of the happiest and healthiest places to live in America played a part in their decision.

"I hire for attitude," she said.  "I train on skills.  We wanted someplace where we started with a healthy happy workforce."
